REPORTS TO: Higher command levels as assigned SUPERVISES: Non-supervisory position

BASIC FUNCTION:

To preserve public peace, protect life and property, prevent crime, enforce all laws and ordinances of which the Department takes cognizance. To be involved in community relations and specialized work.

ESSENTIAL AND RELATED FUNCTION STATEMENTS–Essential and other

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Sufficient education, training and/and or experience equivalent to two years of college preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include effecting arrest, subduing resisting  individuals,  chasing clean subjects, running, jumping,  walking,  crouching  or  crawling  during emergency operations, moving equipment  and injured/deceased persons, climbing stairs/ladders, performing life-saving and rescue  procedures,  walking,  standing or  sitting for  extended periods of time, and operating assigned equipment and
• Ability to effectively deal with personal danger which may include exposure to armed/dangerous persons, dangerous animals, communicable diseases, hazards of emergency driving, hazards associated with traffic control and working in and near traffic, and natural and man-made

• Ability to maintain effective audiovisual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading and writing, and operating assigned equipment and
