Job Title: City Planner

Department: Planning

Type of position: Full-time

Pay Rate: $18/Hr.

Hours: 40/week Nonexempt

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

City Planner will work under the direction of the Public Works Director. The City Planner performs responsible, professional planning activities involving current planning, long-range planning, and special projects; and performs related work as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Interpret maps, site, and building plans and specifications.
  • Land use zoning, variance, special exception, and other development applications.
  • Perform tasks associated with Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Regulations, and their preparation and implementation.
  • Create Approval Letters for Permits
  • Input Permits & PZE’s into System
  • Business License
  • Answer phones
  • Prepare clear and concise technical documents, reports, and email correspondence.
  • Prepare reports for the Planning Commission, Mayor, and the City Council.
  • Attend Planning & Council meetings on needed basis.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse interest groups (for example: developers, property owners, elected officials, staff, community representatives, the public, etc.)
  • Update and maintain project excel sheets
  • Invoicing
  • Tape Measure Skills/Knowledge

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license.
  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel
